Report: Imperial Valley-Mexicali Economic Delay Study (1.5MB, PDF)

Report analyzing the economic impacts of border delays at the Imperal Valley-Mexicali border region. Project led by HDR, with Crossborder Group providing nearly 2,900 surveys.

 

 

 

Briefing: "Voto 2007 -- Election Update"  (92k, PDF)

Election Alert and preliminary briefing on August 2007 election results in the State of Baja California (2007).

 

Report:  "Borderless Biotech & Mexico's Emerging Life Sciences Industry" (533k, PDF)

Briefing paper researched and developed by Crossborder Group for UCSD Extension and Merck (MSD-México) regarding the potential for biomedical, biotech, and clinical trials in specific regions of Mexico (2007).

 

Presentation: Initial At-Border Survey Results - Imperial County/Mexicali (517k, PDF)

Presentation of initial survey results provided to the Imperial Valley Association of Governments (IVAG) and CalTrans.  Nearly 2,900 surveys done by Crossborder for project led by HDR, to assess economic impact of border waits between Mexicali and Imperial County (2007)

 

Study:  "Borderless Innovation:  Catalyzing the Competitiveness of the San Diego-Baja California Region" (1.4Mb, PDF)

In 2004, Crossborder was retained by UCSD Extension to provide research and strategic guidance for the Crossborder Innovation and Competitiveness Initiative -- with the goal of assessing possible crossborder synergies in high-tech sectors in the San Diego-Baja California region.  Later, CBA's Director supported development of this study as its lead researcher and lead co-author (2006).

 

 

 

Briefing:  "Otay Mesa's Industrial Lands" (160k, PDF)

Crossborder has been retained by a local Chamber of Commerce to developed a series of informational materials -- including handouts, briefing packets, and presentations -- about the Otay Mesa border community.  These materials -- including this industrial lands briefing paper -- are part of a major public education campaign to assist with advocacy and planning for the community (2006-2007).

 

 

 

Report:  Borderwide Maquiladora Charitable Giving Survey (85k, PDF)

Initial survey results from first-ever, borderwide survey of charitable-giving by Mexico's maquiladora industry.  Survey conducted by Crossborder Business Associates via phone, email, and fax.  Project sponsored by the International Community Foundation, the Synergos Institute, the Fundación Empresarial Sonarense A.C., and the El Paso Community Foundation (2005).

 

 

Briefing: FDI in Baja California (235k, PDF)

Briefing document developed for UCSD Extension - San Diego Dialogue to demonstrate recent trends in foreign investment in the State of Baja California, Mexico (2005).

 

Crossborder Innovation Initiative - Biomedical Device Cluster Briefing (261k, PDF)

Briefing document developed under contract with UCSD Extension - San Diego Dialogue for Crossborder Innovation & Competitiveness Initiative.  Provides overview of biomedical device cluster in Baja California, and potential areas of synergy with San Diego's biomedical cluster (2004).

 

Report:  "Insufficient Funds:  the Demand for Banking Services in Mulegé, Baja California Sur, and Opportunities for Community Development" (650k, PDF)

Report on research and community surveys conducted by Crossborder in Baja California Sur to assess the demand for banking services, and the economic impacts on the community of Mulegé caused by the lack of such services.  Project sponsored by the International Community Foundation (2004).

Short analysis developed for Crossborder's clients about the apparent rebound in Mexico's maquiladora industry, following a series of market factors in 2000-2001 (2004).

Workbook developed for the San Diego Regional Technology Alliance and the US Environmental Protection Agency about electronics waste and recycling, and projects in the San Diego-Tijuana region to address e-wastes (2002).

 

 

Report:  Assessment of Regional Air Cargo Trends & the Proposed San Diego Air Commerce Center (491k, PDF)

Market assessment of air cargo demand and proposed San Diego Air Commerce Center (air cargo facility) developed by Crossborder Business Associates (market research subcontractor) for London Group Realty Advisors (project manager) and San Diego County Taxpayers Association (2001).

Critical assessment of San Diego's environmental technology industry cluster, and regional efforts to encourage this industry.  Developed for the San Diego Workforce Partnership and the SD Regional Technology Alliance (2000).
