2003

December 2003:  CBA implements a weeklong survey of border crossers between the US and Mexico at two of the largest southern border crossings:  San Ysidro POE and Otay Mesa POE.

November 2003:  The respected non-profit International Community Foundation retains CBA for two crossborder research projects: one related to banking services in rural areas of Baja California Sur, the other, a survey related to economic and social connections between San Diego-Tijuana.

November 2003:  The Otay Mesa Chamber of Commerce again features an a tongue-in-cheek article by CBA's Director, regarding the recall vote, and new California laws....

October 2003:  The Orange County Register asks CBA's Director about the first meeting between incoming Governor Arnold Schwarzenneger and Mexican Foreign Secretary Ernesto Derbez [PDF].

September 2003:  Otay Mesa Chamber of Commerce features legislative analysis article written by CBA's Director, Kenn Morris, in their Otay Action newsletter.

August 2003:  Orange County-based Champman University takes 5th annual crossborder educational tour, utilizing CBA's services.

July 2003:  Mexico City-based news weekly magazine, Milenio, interviews CBA's Director as one of its two "mexicanólogos" (Mexico analysts) for U.S. perspective on Mexican mid-term elections (article in Spanish, large PDF [150k]).

March 2003: CBA Director, Kenn Morris, invited by Partido Acción Nacional - EdoMex to observe final days of campaign and March 9 elections in State of Mexico (EdoMex). 

March 2003: Otay Mesa Chamber of Commerce publishes article highlighting CBA's research into NAFTA trucking issue.

January 2003:  CBA provides fact-finding visit about immigration issues to Tijuana for 70 key executives of MALDEF -- the Mexican American Legal Defense & Educational Fund.  

2002

November 2002:  101 students and professors from the University of Southern California's Marshall School of Business participate in two-day business tour of Baja California organized by CBA.  This crossborder tour included visits to four maquiladoras in Tijuana and the Port of Ensenada. October/November 2002:  CBA's crossborder market research and analysis services are highlighted in variety of news and media reports:  San Diego's Union Tribune (website / PDF), the Berkeley Daily Planet (website / PDF), and Mexico City's La Jornada (website / PDF).

October 2002:  Kenn Morris, Director of CBA, presents preliminary results from BorderValue$ 2002: San Diego-Tijuana at the South San Diego County Economic Development Council's annual Economic Summit.  This regional survey and economic assessment project highlights inter-relationships between San Diego and Tijuana (download PDF presentation here -- Note: 310K).

September 2002:  CBA retained by Border Trade Services to provide marketing support and website auditing services.

July/August 2002:  CBA attracts new investors, and has reformed as a Limited Liability Company (LLC) in a new office just minutes from the US-Mexico border in Otay Mesa (click here for our new contact information).

May 2002:  CBA's crossborder environmental work highlighted in US Environmental Protection Agency-sponsored publication, "San Diego-Tijuana High Tech Waste Prevention & Recycling Workbook" (note: large PDF file, 467k), developed by CBA for the San Diego Regional Technology Alliance

April 2002:  CBA provides crossborder research and analysis services for Chairperson of tri-national organization, the Border Trade Alliance

February-March 2002:  CBA undertakes extensive interviews of more than 18 Baja California and US-Mexico border environmental officials for the Institute for Regional Studies of the California's Cal-EPA sponsored research into crossborder environmental projects and opportunities.  

February 2002:  CBA signs major market research subcontract with Landrum & Brown -- the prime contractor for the SD Regional Airport Authority's Air Transport Action Plan.  The $1.5 million project will evaluate airport options in the San Diego-Tijuana Region.

January 14 2002:  CBA's Director, Kenn Morris, interviewed by the San Diego Business Journal on Toyota investment in Baja California (download in Acrobat/PDF format).

January 11 2002:  Kenn Morris speaks again at Monterey Congressional Forum -- an annual international trade event for business and government leaders sponsored by the California Council for International Trade -- as panelist discussing Western Trade Policy Priorities for 2002.

January 2002:  CBA hired by Hong Kong-based multinational conglomerate, Jardine Matheson, for crossborder executive training services.

2001

November 2001:  More than 75 participants from USC's Marshall School of Business participated in a CBA two-day, crossborder executive business tour of Tijuana.

October 2001:  CBA's recent survey of South San Diego County businesses, and the impacts caused by increased border security, is highlighted in a San Diego Union Tribune editorial (download in Acrobat/PDF format, 61k).

October 2001:  Despite logistical problems caused by increased security concerns at our borders, CBA is continuing its efforts to update San Diego Dialogue's Who Crosses the Border study, on behalf of the South County Economic Development Council.  See our Border Survey 2001 project page for more details.

August 2001:  CBA provides maquiladora tour services to San Francisco-based Environmental Careers Organization, as well as Chapman University's Executive International MBA program.  See our crossborder tour section to see how your company, organization, or university can learn first-hand about Mexico through our services.

July 2001:  The Danish Technological Institute contracts with CBA to investigate creation of a crossborder educational program involving Europe, California, and Baja California.

June 2001:  The topic of manufacturing in Mexico to enhance competitive positioning is presented by CBA's Director, Kenn Morris, at the Danish Technological Institute's Forum For Outsourcing, in Hindsgavl, Denmark, to European business executives.

April 2001:  CBA's Director, Kenn Morris, is guest speaker at Baja California forum on prospects for developing Mexico's Information Technology sector.  The Forum ("Foro de Consulta Sobre Vinculación en Tecnologías de la Información") was organized by CICESE and CONACYT as part of developing Mexico's 2001-2006 National Science & Technology Plan Email CBA for a copy of the presentation.

February 2001:  Kenn Morris, Director of CBA, accepts role of Co-Chair of San Diego World Trade Center's Advocacy Committee, along with Matt Andersen, Director of the US Department of Commerce's San Diego Office.

January 2001:  The San Diego County Taxpayer Association announced the results of the London Group Realty Advisors/Crossborder Business Associates market assessment for air cargo operations at Brown Field.  Download a copy of the report from our Publications section.

 

2000

December 2000:  CBA's Executive Market Introduction Tour services hit an all-time record in the Year 2000, with over 170 individuals participating in CBA's guided visits to Baja California maquiladoras.  See some photos from these business tours here.
